Admission procedure

Admission procedure for international candidates for degree studies 2019-2020 (BA and MA) taught in English.

For candidates from outside the EU/EFTA countries; holders of a temporary residence permit; or who are not of Polish origin.

If you are a citizen of non EU/EFTA country or a holder of a temporary residence permit you can take up studies on tuition fee basis or with a scholarship from NAWA. The tuition fee per one academic year is 2000 – 3000 EUR (depending on the study programme). A candidate who undertakes studies on the tuition fee basis at the University of Lodz, shall pay study fees whose amount in the first study year is increased by the equivalent of 120 Euro, regardless of the number of programmes started by the student. The amount of the increased payment is non-refundable.

The Admission IRK system is also for Banach/Lukasiewicz scholarship holders or scholarship programme participants exempted from education fees (applicable to candidates without Polish origin) who have referral issued by Polish Agency for Academic Exchange NAWA www.nawa.gov.pl.

Stage I

The applicant registers at the ADMISSION IRK online enrolment platform and uploads required documents:

– an application form (personal details form), printed out from the ADMISSION IRK online enrollment platform,

– copies of secondary education certificate for BA studies and diploma for MA studies,

– a copy of transcript of records,

– an English language certificate. A candidate whose documents confirm schooling in English, may not be required to present any additional language certificate,

– a cover letter read more,

accommodation request (if he/she decides to stay in the dormitory),

– administrative fee of 20 Euro.

Copies/scans of the foregoing documents are allowed, since students need to bring the original documents with them after being admitted to the university. If the documents are issued in a foreign language, they need to be translated into English during the admission if Polish translation is unavailable in the candidate’s home country. Please bear in mind that certificates/diplomas will have to be translated by a sworn translator into Polish after coming to Poland due to Polish law’s requirement. At this stage the candidate is asked to pay the administrative fee of 20 Euro. After the payment reaches the University bank account the documents are considered on their merits by the Faculty.

On rare occasions when having problems with the ADMISSION IRK online platform you may contact us directly and send documents via e-mail to admission@uni.lodz.pl or postal service.

Stage II

After a positive decision is made, the candidate who undertake studies on a tuition fee basis is sent Bank Details Letter and asked to pay the tuition fee for studies increased by the equivalent of 100 Euro. The amount of the increase payment is non-refundable. A proof of payment must be returned to the International Students Office via Admission IRK platform. After the payment reaches the University bank account the candidate is sent a Confirmation Letter.

Banach/Lukasiewicz scholarship holders or scholarship programme participants exempted from education fees in order to go further with the application process, need to make sure that they uploaded to the Admission IRK system the letter of decision on scholarship or exemption from education fees. Candidates who will not get a referral from NAWA will switch to regular payment scheme or resign from studies.

Every candidate is asked to legalize his/her documents. In some cases, the candidate is asked to contact the Polish Embassy (or diplomatic mission) in his/her country to legalize the documents first (or obtain the stamp of Apostille) before a Confirmation Letter is made.

Candidate is asked to get an Eligibility statement saying that their certificate/diploma gives the right to study at the university level or continue education on Master’s level in the country they were issued stamped by the Higher Education Authorities or legalized by the Polish Embassy. Based on international agreements on mutual recognition of educational credentials documents from some countries do not need such statement.

Students wishing to obtain a room in the university dormitory need to fill in the Accommodation request (a place in the university dormitory in a double room costs between 70 and 110 EUR a month). The place cannot be guaranteed, there are no single rooms.

Promptly after getting the legalization and the visa, the applicant sends the scanned documents to ADMISSION IRK (step 10) or ISO.
